Tips for Employers: How to Welcome Young People into the Workplace
The YES (Youth Employment Skills) project is an Erasmus+ initiative implemented by the foundation “Science and Innovation Park” in cooperation with partners from Greece, “In-Planet.” The main goal of the project is to support young people aged 16 to 30 in successfully transitioning from education into the labour market.
As part of the project, we have developed guidelines for employers — “Intern Tips for Employers” — a practical resource designed to help companies and organizations better understand how to welcome and support young people taking their first steps in their professional careers.
Generation Z enters the workplace with its own values, expectations, and communication style. To ensure successful collaboration from day one, a conscious and human-centered approach is essential — including structured onboarding, regular communication, mentoring, and an environment where young people feel comfortable learning and asking questions. The guidelines cover the entire internship cycle in detail — from planning and onboarding to completion and feedback.
The material is currently available in English, and a Latvian version will be available soon. It is intended for both companies and municipalities that aim to invest in youth and build a sustainable work culture.
